Immigration: Don´t forget to hold on to your tourist card (visa) as it must be returned to immigration officials when you leave the country.

 

Restaurant Checks: In México, it is not common practice to bring the bill to your table until it is requested; when yuo´re ready, just say "La Cuenta por favor," to your waiter.

 

 

Tips: The average tip for servers goes is between 10 and 15%, depending on the service. Houskeeping staff get a couple of dollars a day, depending on how much they have to do, the size of the room, suite, condominium, etc. Bellboys and skycaps at the airport can expect anywhere from $.25 to $ .50 U.S. per bag.

 

Buses: There are bus lines around town and to and from the Hotel Zone.

Fares are reasonable, about $ 4.50 pesos per person.

Taxi Rates: Taxis abound in Cancún, and although there are set rates, some vary what they charge. Here is a list of what to expect:

Speed Limits & Speed Bumps:

In town, the limit is generally 40 km/hr (approx. 25 mi/hr) and in the Hotel Zone 60 km/hr (approx.37 min/hr), with busy sections at 40 km/hr (approx. 25 mi/hr). Highways range between 90 km/hr (approx. 55 mi/hr) and 100 km/hr (approx. 68 mi/hr). Speed bumps are a popular way of keeping drivers within the speed limits; look for them when entering and leaving villages or towns.
