Playa del Carmen Quinta Avenida (Fifth Avenue)

 
Although the biggest attraction of Playa is its own personality, to the same as the remainder of the places of the Riviera Maya, also has a great variety of activities, in Playa del Carmen The 5ª avenue is the main artery of the zone.

Stroll the pedestrian walkway of Quinta Avenida (Fifth Avenue). You will find over a mile of unique shops offering the latest styles in clothing and beachwear, unusual handicrafts, artwork, jewelry, leather and imports from all over the Caribbean.

And don't forget everyone's favorite souvenirs: Mexican tequila and Cuban cigars! Abounds gastronomic alternatives and much diversion as well as commercial localities, what does the place of encounter obliged after the hours of beach and excursions, prolonging the life of the place until the early morning.

The majority of the commerce are found in the 5ª avenue (peatonal), but also they are achieved to find pleasant surprises in their adjacent streets. Bordeada by stores of crafts and clothes of beach. It is the main street where the visitors gather, in a typical Mexican atmosphere.

During a walk down this pedestrian street, where automobiles are not permitted, you will find a variety of restaurants with all kinds of menus national and international, to satisfy any palate; divers stores to make you purchases and a great variety of services offered to the visitors.

The calm that is felt strolling on this street is in keeping with the calm of the sea at scarcely 50 meters.

Since the sunset until around the midnight, the 5ª avenue, is adorned with the most extravagant personages. Among them only the tourists, but the same pobladores that to this hour have not finished their journey of job and leaves "to take a walk", or well they invite the visitor to know their business.

Along fifth Avenue, there are also musical groups, contributing to the atmosphere, among them, the "Mexican Mariachi", with their unique melodies, duets, trios and quartets with their romantic "boleros", the "Marimba" band with it contagious rhythm and the "Huapanguero" from Veracruz with the harp to delight us with its delicate notes.

You can meet extravagant characters, as in the case of the painter who uses a spray technique to create paintings of impressive landscapes. The passers by can obtain the one they like for a moderate price.

On some corner, we are surprised by folklore, Mexico is rich in folklore; in Playa del Carmen, it is shown in different ways and styles of typical dances and native indian ballets with such spectacular acts as the "Voladores de Papantla" ( the Papantla flyers ).

So, when you come to Playa del Carmen, don't miss a visit to Fifth Avenue, because if you haven't been on this unusual street, with its atmosphere of joy, security and harmony, maybe then, you haven't seen Playa del Carmen.
